Playground politics

My Life & Other Plans post over at The Road Ahead Lifestyle website this week is all about negotiating playground politics.

It’s an area I’m still learning, so I’d love to hear from all you more seasoned parents out there on the do’s and don’ts of playground etiquette (if there is such a thing!).

I’d love if you went over and had a read and shared your experiences.

The very best post in the world

I’ve been having an unofficial bloggy hiatus. Those who have been following me for awhile may have noticed that I do this from time to time. It’s never planned, normally associated with some form of angst and nearly always occurs when I am dying to tell you all something but can’t.

And then the longer the hiatus lingers, the more pressure I put on myself that I. MUST. WRITE. SOMETHING. ANYTHING.

But when I’m feeling the pressure and I sit down to write this ‘anything’. It’s always guaranteed crap. Or all about nothing and I don’t mean in a witty Seinfeld way.

And who’d want to read that? Anyone?

I envy bloggers who can take their everyday life and craft something witty, sparkling almost everyday. I don’t think I’ll ever be like that, which is OK.

Especially lately. I’ve been as sick as a dog for quite a few weeks and as much as I was tempted to write a little ‘me so sick, please send sympathy’ style post. I just couldn’t do it. So I wallowed in my own mucous factory instead.

But now I am starting to feel better, the mucous factory is shutting up shop and I attempt to get back to business as usual. I put the guilt away – guilt for being a crap mother while sick and guilt for not blogging. Tomorrow is a new day. And today is a public holiday in Brisbane town – so the boys are off walking and grabbing milk, while I am here under a doona typing whatever comes into my head.

So yes, the headline is false advertising to an extent. This post won’t set the world on fire. But sometimes the best post in my little world is any post at all.

Happy Wednesday!
