If you’re wondering why it’s a been a bit quiet here at Save Mum’s Sanity, it’s because any spare moment I have had in the past few weeks has been packing, thinking about packing, organising the moving of utilities and such, resting from packing while staring into space, beating myself up any spare moment I’m not packing … well, you get the drift.
It’s left me little time to think of anything else, or string together a coherent sentence for purposes of this blog.
But the end is finally in sight. This Friday brings Settlement Day and we’ll hold the keys to our new home in our hands. So, excited! But until then, it’s stepping around boxes, rummaging in the washing basket for clean clothes, discovering that thing you really, really need is something that last week you thought you never use and swiftly wacked into a box marked ‘Kitchen cupboard’.
It’s been raining alot here in Brisbane town. A kind of gloomy humidity has been hanging around, broken up some days by torrential downpours. Yesterday was one of those downpour days. First it blew in the front door, where luckily we had no boxes stashed. Jarvis thought Christmas had come early as he crawled and splashed in the water clad in only his nappy while making high-pitched squealing noises. Such a joy to watch!
But then, we got tired and all had a lie down – unbeknownst to me, Mr P had left the back windows opened and the wind decided to change direction and blow in, covering some of my carefully packed boxes with water. Not such a joy! Before I could strangle him, he got the hair dryer on to the boxes and luckily I seem to have escaped repacking.
The weekend also brought a couple of interludes to relax and get ready for the mad week ahead – I got the tresses cut and coloured, while immersing myself in magazines and I had a lovely lunch today with some of my best girlfriends, a couple of wines and some spirited conversation.
So, cue the mad dash to the finish line! Feel free to share your moving stories …
