Farewell 2010

Sitting here at the kitchen table in our new home, with working internets and phone and a whole heap of stuff that hasn’t quite found a place to reside, I feel now is as good a time as any to cast my mind through the year that was.

Yes, it’s derivative and I’ve never been a big one for the dreaded ‘new years resolutions’ but even though we’ve undergone a huge life shift with the purchase of a house, I still find myself languishing around aimlessly in some place I’m not sure of. Rut feels like an understatement.

Christmas Wrap … Up

Well Christmas is over for another year.

In the lead up, it didn’t feel like Christmas. We were packing, moving, unpacking and calling up Telstra because our new phone line wasn’t working. Having not moved for more than six years, and with the last move being just my own belongings – not a whole house – I can now well and trully concur with that old trotted out line that ‘moving is the second most stressful event in life, behind the loss of loved one.’ Continue reading

When it rains, it pours

If you’re wondering why it’s a been a bit quiet here at Save Mum’s Sanity, it’s because any spare moment I have had in the past few weeks has been packing, thinking about packing, organising the moving of utilities and such, resting from packing while staring into space, beating myself up any spare moment I’m not packing … well, you get the drift.

It’s left me little time to think of anything else, or string together a coherent sentence for purposes of this blog.

But the end is finally in sight. This Friday brings Settlement Day and we’ll hold the keys to our new home in our hands. So, excited! But until then, it’s stepping around boxes, rummaging in the washing basket for clean clothes, discovering that thing you really, really need is something that last week you thought you never use and swiftly wacked into a box marked ‘Kitchen cupboard’.
